SafetyTat Review, Giveaway and Discount Code

I remember as a kid being told to hold my sisters' hands, to not wander far and to not speak to strangers when we were out in an unfamiliar territory. In those days, although abductions did occur, it was a different world.

You want to do everything you can to keep your little ones safe, right? Kids don't always listen and don't understand that the consequences of not listening or wandering off can be tragic. So, why not combine something they do understand and love with something that gives mom and dad peace of mind?

Recently, a reader told me about an item called SafetyTat. We all know many kiddos love fake tattoos so why not combine that love with something that can bring them back if they get lost? SafetyTat is a safety ID tattoo that empowers kids, according to their website.

What is SafetyTat? From the company:
...put the odds in your favor for a safe return, with SafetyTat. SafetyTat is a fun and colorful kids temporary safety tattoo that's uniquely offered either customized with your mobile phone number or blank so you can write in your mobile number. When applied to the arm of your child or loved one, SafetyTat provides a highly visible form of identification that stays in place even when wet!

There are several type of SafetyTat tattoos to choose from, such as allergy alert, special needs and medical alerts. I received a sample of the Quick Stick Write-On! SafetyTats (shown in the photo at the top of this post), winner of the iParenting Media Greatest Products Award. The tattoos are applied without water and shipped blank so emergency information can be written on them by the caretaker or parent. They are vibrant and opaque, so they work on all skin tones. The company says they are ultra-durable and last up to two weeks. The adhesive is also medical grade.

My opinion? I love that I can customize this tattoo to the phone number I can be reached at quickly on a particular day or if a babysitter or grandparent is taking care of my sons, they can write in their phone number. The are indeed very vibrant and even though my boys are still very young, I can tell that they thought they were cool when I put one on each of them. I can definitely see myself using these the next time we are at the zoo, park, mall or big family reunion.

Buy: SafetyTats are available on their website at this URL: http://store.safetytat.com/store/. Use SafetyTat coupon code PotamusPrefers (case sensitive) to save 15% off of a $15 or more purchase through August 5, 2009.

Win: Update: Congratulations! We have our winners (One winner was drawn twice so I had to redraw one of the numbers so that we would have three winners). independentmami, Anonymous and Kristy you have been emailed. Please claim within 72 hours. Thanks!

I thought it was cool that SixFlags has a place where they will apply them to your child for you when you enter the park. What a great idea!

I would use the Quick Stick Write-On! Multi-Design 4-pack, because of the medic alert symbol on one. This is necessary because my daughter has juvenile diabetes, and is insulin-dependent. Thanks!

i was wondering about this and this is what i found out...Can you add my child's name to his tattoo?

We have chosen not to include children's names on their SafetyTats as an advised safety precaution. We do not want strangers to know your child's name and potentially lure them away
