PinkTogether.com: Inspring Hope Giveaway

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One site spreading awareness and helping those affected by breast cancer, both emotionally and monetarily, is PinkTogether.com.

On PinkTogether.com, everyone can share hope by posting and reading inspiring stories of breast cancer survivors and supporters within the community.

From the organizers:
"The site is part of Pink Together®, a national campaign to support those impacted by breast cancer and to help raise awareness of the disease. To support Pink Together, General Mills is donating $2 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and is turning the packaging pink next month on an assortment of its most beloved brands. General Mills will also donate $1, up to $20,000, each time you post a comment of encouragement, send a virtual flower bouquet or share a story on PinkTogether.com in October."

I sat for a long time reading the stories. I sent several bouquets and sent messages of hope. I felt good knowing I was building people up and helping in more than one way. It's easy to do and don't forget $1 will be donated each time you do this.

Win: Update: We have our winner. Congratulations to #30 Danielle who said, "email subscriber".

Both of my grandmothers Doris and Garnet inspire me. They had 9 and 8 kids respectively. They did the best they could to always protect their kids, home, and family. My grandmother Garnet died after a short battle with colon cancer when I was only 3 so I don't remember her but I've heard tons of good things about her. My grandmother Doris died when I was 17 after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer's disease and I believe I have acquired her pancake making skills, lol. abailey_crace@yahoo.com

The Person that has inspired me the most (other than my own Mom) was my Mother-in-law. She was diagnosed w/Lung Cancer 3 1/2 months before our wedding and refused to let us change the date! She went thru Chemo & radiation, then had 1 Son Graduate High School, the next week-end another Son graduated the 6th grade, the NEXT week-end my Husband (to-be @ the time) Graduated college, then the next week-end WE got married-w/a big Church wedding & reception for about 125 people! That coupled w/the fact that she worked as a Nurse, raised 5 Children, kept all of them in church each week and TRULEY lived her faith (AND never ONCE interfered w/how we raised OUR kids, only giving her opinion when asked!)She also kept HER marrage going for 54 YEARS!!!! She gave ME some HIGH STANDARDS and big shoes to fill now that I'm a Mom-in-law (and Grandparent too!!!)

One of the things I find most inspiring (from the Pink Together.com website as well as others) is the overall feeling of hope and positivity from the Survivors! And I am proud of my State (Arkansas) for having one of the LARGEST 'Race for the cure' events in the whole country - it's amazing to see that 'sea of pink' cross the bridge from Little Rock to NLR!

My sister inspires me the most. Growing up the way that we did, female role models were nonexistant. She is determined, motivated, funny, she always has the right thing to say at the right time. She is supportive.. When I look at everything she has done and overcome, it really gives me the extra push I need to try harder or go that extra mile. She is my very best friend.
