GlammaTOYS.com: WEDGiTS To Go! R&G

There are a lot of toys out there to choose from this holiday season. I find that it's difficult to make an informed decision just from looking at the shelf or browsing online. That is why I enjoy doing real life reviews of products for my family and my readers. I also have found that I have become aware of brands and retailers I didn't know existed. I hope my readers feel the same way.

Recently, I was acquainted with GlammaTOYS.com and their line of "unique toys and games that create smiles, giggles and imaginative play for children of all ages".

GlammaToys says, "We scour the globe for high-quality, American-made specialty toys that you won’t find anywhere else – each one carefully selected by our discerning staff to enrich young lives and bring families close."

I was sent the WEDGiTS To Go! to try out. When I was offered the chance to have my boys try out the WEDGiTs, I did a little research since I hadn't heard of them.

From the GlammaTOYs website:
This building and design toy offers creative construction challenges for today's kids-on-the-Go! Packaged in its own plastic carrying case, this 35 piece educational manipulative allows kids to create designs, structures, creatures and art-forms. The open-ended design of WEDGiTS stimulate children's perception and reasoning skills as they experience different ways to stack, nest and align these rhombus and octahedron shaped blocks. WEDGiTS To Go! also includes 10 sample design cards from the Advanced Design Cards deck.

I also found out that WEDGiTS have proudly found their way into homes, classrooms and occupational therapy centers across five continents. I can see why and when you see my video review, I believe you will too! I am not surprised that my first born son loved this toy, but I was a little surprised that my youngest son loved it as much as he did. He usually likes to destruct instead of construct.

Check out our video:

In-Depth Product Description:
WEDGiTS building blocks are graduated in size. The five primary block shapes nest and layer in vertical and horizontal positions. Mathematicians refer to these block shapes as rhombus and octahedron. Kids gravitate toward WEDGiTS because the blocks are designed to naturally align or drop into place, offering no wrong way to build! Educators often refer to this as an open-ended manipulative.

Occupational therapists recommend this type of product because it provides any age with a self-esteem platform. Whether for a child of special needs or an adult recovering from brain trauma, WEDGiTS always provides an environment for something new to be created. The satisfaction gained from a building accomplishment is a key milestone in cognitive development. Open-ended toys allow for creative designs without having to follow a given pattern or set of instructions. WEDGiTS also offer the opportunity for self-esteem development and has been recognized for such through key organizations like Lekotek and AblePlay.
