Walmart's $20 Thanksgiving Dinner for Eight and Walmart $30 Gift Cards (2) Giveaway

Wow, is it really almost Thanksgiving? To me, Thanksgiving is a time to gather with family, count my blessings and give thanks. Of course, we also enjoy a delicious meal that includes turkey, dressing and all the fixings.

Serving a big family meal can put a serious dent in your pocketbook if you let it, but this year you don't have to. Walmart's Thanksgiving Dinner for Eight can be yours for as low $20 and will give you even more to be thankful for.

So much has happened this past year. Many people have lost their jobs or have had a pay decrease. Many are scrimping and cutting back in every facet of their life. Walmart is listening and has put together this wonderful deal.

Here's the scoop....

A turkey dinner for eight as low as $20
According to a survey by the American Farm Bureau Federation, last year’s average cost of a turkey was roughly $1.19 per pound. Select Grade A turkeys are available now for 40 cents per pound at Walmart.* These gobblers are part of Walmart’s $20 Thanksgiving Menu guaranteeing family favorites will be on the dinner table this holiday season.

Walmart’s $20 Thanksgiving Dinner for Eight includes:
•One 12-pound Grade A turkey*
•Three 11 to 15.5-ounce cans Green Giant vegetables
•Two 14-ounce cans Ocean Spray cranberry sauce
•Three 6-ounce boxes of Stove Top stuffing
•One 5-pound bag of red potatoes
•One 12-count package of Sara Lee dinner rolls
•One 22-ounce pumpkin roll cake

And for those less confident in the kitchen, Food Network star Melissa d'Arabian has created tasty twists on traditional holiday dishes using the ingredients found in the Thanksgiving basket. Just check out the Walmart Holiday Meals website here for these recipes and more information.

This year, we will be gathering as a family at my sister's home for Thanksgiving then we will gather a couple of days later with my in-laws for another wonderful celebration. For my family's get together, my dad makes turkey and dressing then we all bring the sides. I will probably make my Cheesy Potatoes recipe, a yummy tator tot casserole dish that a friend gave me a few years ago. I always get requests for it and usually end up making it every year. We will also make my grandmother's black olive and cream cheese dip to dip carrots, broccoli and cauliflower in.

A tip I have for Thanksgiving meals is to not go overboard doing everything from scratch. Canned whole berry cranberry sauce is yummy and you can even jazz it up if you like with a little orange juice and/or orange zest.

Win: We have our winners. Congratulations to #89, auntrene, who said, "I subscribe via email" and #300, dawns41, who said, "My favorite Thanksgiving dinner was last years because family came in from out of town and everyone had a great time." Both have been emailed and have claimed their prize.

My favorite Holiday memories is my Grandmother coming to visit over the Christmas Holiday each year. We would only see her for a couple of times during the year. In the summer, she'd stay for a couple of weeks and during the Christmas Holiday, she'd usually stay for 3-4 weeks. We'd bake cookies and cakes together. She'd take us shopping. She'd bring us to the movies, etc. It was so great whenever she came. Thanks so much.

My favorite holiday memory isn't related to Thanksgiving, but instead to Christmas.
When my daughter was in the 3rd grade(shes now 16),started hearing rumors from other school kids that Santa was not real. I really wasn't ready for her to stop believing so I was telling her everything that I could possibly think of to get her to not question the magic of Santa. So along comes Christmas Eve and I asked her to help me look on NORAD website where Santa currently was. She kept telling me that he wasn't real and I should just quit pretending. i then asked her what would have to happen for her to believe me about Santa; she said she'd have to hear or see his sleigh, or reindeer.
Well wouldn't you know that maybe about 15 minutes after she told me that we heard a loud noise coming from the neighbors, she thought it was his sleigh landing on their roof(never have found out what the noise was actually caused by), but boy did she climb right into bed in a hurry!
To this day we still talk about that night & wonder what caused the noise. All I can say is that I was very grateful for that noise as she truly believed for another 2 years.

Gift cards are giving .20 discount for every $50 purchased. I try to either give giftcards or buy giftcards and use them to purchase more personalized gifts. It helps a lot with the SUV.

My favorite holiday memories are when I was a child and we always had a tradition - my parents best friends (a couple) and their families always came to our house for Christmas and we always went to their house for Thanksgiving. My parents friends have since passed away, as well as my mom and those traditions are gone too. We have never really come up with new traditions - each holiday is always up in the air - kind of sad. Those were the best times of my life though.

We save money on our Thanksgiving dinner by combining coupons with sales. Our giant turkey only cost $4 and we'll have lots of leftovers even after the boys take plates of food back home.
Thanks for the chance to win!

My money saving tip is to cook a BIG turkey. You can use the leftovers for all sorts of recipes and eat off the turkey for days afterward--besides the "mandatory" turkey sandwiches. Thanks for the chance to win!

My memory is when I was little my grandparents would come over for Thanksgiving, and afterwards we would play penny poker. Lots of fun!
