Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers from Healthy Hands Review and Giveaway

We've been talking a good bit about preventing the cold and flu bugs from attacking us. I think all moms know that the first line of defense is washing your hands properly and for the proper length of time.

Wouldn't it be neat if there was an easy way to get kids to practice proper hand washing? There is... Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers! This is an awesome, super easy to use, device. It features characters your kids will love and slips right on almost any soap dispenser. It has music and lights that mesmerize my two toddlers and I think most kids will love it. The best way to tell you about this item is through a video demonstration, so here you go...

Information I received from the company:

Pediatricians, the Centers For Disease Control (CDC), and other experts have established guidelines for washing your hands. While hand washing is a simple precaution we can all take – the question for parents is “Are your kids washing their hands the right way?” Now parents can answer “yes” making it fun and easy to get their kids to wash their hands healthier – with the Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers from Healthy Hands!

The Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers fit on any liquid soap pump dispenser and feature kids’ favorite characters and music along with flashing lights to encourage kids wash their hands for 20-25 seconds (the recommended wash time to eliminate germs to a level that will lead to better hygiene). Best of all, parents won’t have to change the brands of soap they know and trust because the patented design fits on all standard soap brands – including wide and thin nozzle brands.

With the Musical Hand Wash Timer, the natural action of pushing down on the pump to dispense soap triggers the music to play. Each unit will get more than 1,000 uses – which is a lot of hand washing!

“I’ve worked for years to spread the principles of healthy hand hygiene” said Dr. William Sawyer, founding member of the Clean Hands Coalition and creator of the Henry The Hand foundation. “I’m a major supporter of new and innovative ways for parents to get their kids washing their hands longer, and the Healthy Hands Musical Hand Wash Timers are a great approach.”

For years, parents have tried to find “tricks” to get their kids to wash longer – sing “Happy Birthday” or say your A-B-C’s twice, there’s no need for that anymore.

This sounded wonderful to me. I love that they have characters kids recognize along with the music they love and are easy to take on and off. I also love that I only have to spend $3.99 to buy the timer... I don't have to replace my soap dispensers. With all of the H1N1, colds and other bugs spreading around here, anything that will get my little ones to wash their hands is a big plus. The fact that it's budget friendly is the icing on the cake! Wouldn't these make excellent stocking stuffers?

Buy: The Disney Musical Hand Wash Timers from Healthy Hands are $3.99 each plus shipping and handling. Currently they are available in an Arial version and a Cars version. Just go to http://www.gethealthyhands.com/ to order (shipping takes 1-2 weeks, so get your orders in asap).

I really do not use any tricks - my 2 1/2 yr old just knows to wash them so we don't get dirty or sick. She has to have things that smell good though or she freaks out!

No tricks needed, she'd wash her hands all day long if I would let her. Although she especially likes to use the vegetable sprayer to wash her hands in the kitchen.
