Evenflo Generations 65 Car Seat Giveaway

It seems to me that it was just yesterday that we brought home my tiny 6 lb., 13 oz. first born son from the hospital. We were able to hold his infant car seat with one finger (I have it on video as proof). Just look how tiny he was in his first car seat!

Now look how big he is with his big boy haircut, his big boy snacks, his big boy toy and sippy and his big boy car seat.

He is now 2 1/2 years old and has already grown out of a couple of car seats. For the last couple of weeks, we have been trying out the Evenflo Generations™ 65 Combination Booster Car Seat.

Here is the product information on the Generations 65 and my thoughts on each bit of information...

I like this very much. I love that the seat grows with the child. It can be used as a regular car seat with the 5-point harness and then convert to a booster seat with seatbelt when he's older. He fits in it securely now since he is still only slightly over 30 lbs. I like that he is snugly contained with the 5-point harness for so long.

•  Vehicle seat belt only for use with children 30 - 100 lbs.

See? Great news, right? I wish we had this car seat when he was smaller. We wouldn't have had to buy so many car seats.

•  Soft and luxurious ComfortTouch™ head and body pillow give your child the ultimate in comfort.

He likes this... He can rest his head comfortably. This comes in handy since he naps in the car a lot.

•  PositionRight™ headrest adjusts to 5 heights to grow with your child and maximize safety and comfort.

My son is pretty tall, so I really like that it's adjustable. This booster car seat is customizable and that is something I haven't seen in a lot of car seats I've tried.

•  TensionRight® easy adjust harness tightening system and Central Front Harness Release allows parents easy access for quick, convenient harness adjustment

This feature is probably my favorite so far. Since I have two toddlers, it seems to take me forever to get the harness straps adjusted just right depending on what type of clothing they have on and how much they've grown in the last week. The TensionRight knob is brilliant, in my opinion! Once I have my oldest son buckled in (after pulling the straps out to fit him just right with the Central Front Harness Release), I can tighten the straps super quickly just by turning the knob. It's very easy and I feel like I am able to get the harness nice and tight (if you look at the side view photo above, it's the red knob on the side of the seat).

• 2 recline positions for better vehicle fit

Another wonderful feature, in my view. Some seats seem to wobble in our SUV, but we were able to get this one in snuggly by using all of the built in features, including this one.

• Removable head pillow and body pillow insert for extra cushion

The pillow seems nice and comfy... makes me want to crawl right in. Sure, I want him to be safe. That is the MOST important thing, but it's a bonus that he's also nice and comfy, since he spends so much time in his car seat when traveling.

• Flip out removable cup holder included; can be used on either side or removed entirely

Since we have two car seats side by side, we weren't able to use this feature, so it's nice that it's removable.

The Generations™ 65 Combination Booster from Evenflo is for use forward facing with children that are 20-65 lbs and at least 29" tall with the Internal 5-Point Harness and 30-100 lbs and less than 57" tall with the vehicle seat belt only.

All of these features make the car seat a good choice for us, but what about safety? That is THE most important thing, of course. According to their website, all Evenflo car seats are Side Impact Tested. Evenflo says, "At Evenflo, car seat safety is a top priority. That's why we have created the Evenflo Side Impact test protocol. The Evenflo Side Impact test protocol was developed by Evenflo engineers using state-of-the-art facilities. The rigorous test simulates the energy in the severe 5 star government side impact tests conducted for automobiles." Please check out Evenflo's website for more information on safety features and all of their car seats. I suggest you do your research to see if it's right for you.

I do hope they end up making it in more fabric styles. Right now, it comes in one fabric. It's a nice, neutral design though.
