See my lunch? It's tasty!
Many days, after putting the boys down for nap, I realize I am hungry and it's time for me to eat lunch. I am usually tired and not in the mood to prepare a big meal just for me from scratch. Sometimes I head for not so healthy choices like chips or sweets.
Luckily, I was recently sent two samples of the new Healthy Choice All Natural Entrées to try out. I received the Tortellini Primavera Paremesan (220 calories) and the Roasted Red Pepper Marinara (270 calories) versions. These are both vegetarian. I actually just had the Tortellini Primavera Parmesan for lunch today. To me, it tastes fresh and light with a nice balance of flavors. It filled me up, too!
Here's more information from Healthy Choice about the two flavors I was sent:
Tortellini Primavera Parmesan
This four-cheese-stuffed tortellini features whole-grain pasta, julienne carrots, and red pepper strips. We've tossed in Chardonnay wine and extra virgin olive oil, and finished it off with Parmesan cheese to bring out the flavor that's sure to please any palate.
Roasted Red Pepper Marinara
Fire-roasted red peppers, roasted garlic, and tangy marinara sauce complement whole-grain cavatelli pasta. With notes of Chardonnay wine and sea salt, this all-natural meal will tantalize your taste buds.
Healthy Choice recently introduced 11 new entrées to its Café Steamers, All Natural Entrées and Select Entrées product lines. They say they are nutrient-rich and preservative free. Isn't it nice to eat something that is better for you and fast? I also found out from Mom Central that "Healthy Choice is the only major brand in its category FDA-approved to call its products "healthy." This means each meal must have low fat, low saturated fat, controlled sodium and 10% of the daily value of three beneficial nutrients." I didn't know that. Makes me feel even more confident about purchasing this brand.
Since I received the samples, I went to the store and purchased the Pumpkin Squash Ravioli on my own. It's delicious and my favorite! It reminds me of a fancy pumpkin squash ravioli I had on vacation in NYC a few years ago. It's different than the usual frozen food choices and if I wanted to add a nice spinach salad and a round of toasted pita bread to the side, I'd feel like I was really treating myself.
Visit http://www.healthychoice.com/ to check out all of the new flavors. I noticed there is currently a Healthy Choice $1 off coupon when you purchase two frozen entrees.
Fine Print: I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Healthy Choice and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
